The King’s Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) unit was raised in 1680 and subsequently served in many British Army campaigns during its long history.
Previous names include the 2nd Tangier Regiment, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of York and Albany's Regiment of Foot, The Queen's Regiment of Foot, and The King's Own Regiment.
In 1959, it was amalgamated with The Border Regiment to form The King’s Own Royal Border Regiment.
This regiment's badge depicts the Lion of England above the title 'The King's Own'. This was granted to the unit by King William III in 1688.
