An Original 1942 Dated, British Artillery No 22c Mk II Sighting Scope. The Scope is made of brass, painted black and is in good condition. Some paint missing from wear.
It is stamped on the side: Telescope Sighting No 22c MK II, O.S.163 G.A., WRP, 1942, 9119"
The scope optics are in good condition and the 'cross hairs' are clear and undamaged. The cross hair has graticules in the centre with "L" and "R".
Makers mark is WRP = W. R. Prior & Co. Ltd, London. W. R. Prior & Co. Ltd. was founded by Walter Robert Prior in 1919.
The Blitz in 1941 destroyed the factory building, so the company moved to their new facility in Bishop Stortford in 1942. Now known as Prior Scientific.
