Consists of the following:

  1. One OBSOLETE South African Mounted Rifles brass cap and helmet badge, South Africa, 1913 to 1926, KC. Old Obsolete brass King's crown cap badge for the South African Mounted Rifles (S.A.M.R.) - Zuid Afrikaanse Bereden Schutters (Z.A.B.S.) (Dutch language). Worn 1913 to 1926. Used, but good condition with all lugs intact.

  2. Two (2, pair) OBSOLETE South African Mounted Rifles “S.A.M.R./Z.A.B.S.” brass shoulder titles, South Africa, 1913 to 1926. S.A.M.R./Z.A.B.S. = South African Mounted Rifles - Zuid Afrikaanse Bereden Schutters (Dutch language). Both in good condition with lugs intact.

  3. One OBSOLETE S.A.M.R. brass button, KC. Used, but good condition with lug intact. Maker’s mark: Firmin & Sons Ltd. London.

The S.A.M.R. were formed on 1 April 1913 from the existing Permanent and Police Forces of the South African provinces.
1st Regiment - from Cape Mounted Riflemen.
2nd Regiment - from Natal Police and O.F.S. Police.
3rd Regiment - from Natal Police.
4th Regiment - from Transvaal Police.
